Scope and Contents Fragment of a song entitled 'Laoidh Dhiarmaid' [Lay of Diarmaid] collected from Donull Camashron [Donald Cameron], Coill-othar 'Clar-Sgiath' [Coille Odhar/Coillore, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye]. The song begins 'Eisdibh mus ail leibh laoidh, Air a mhuinntir a dh'fhalbh uainn' and is composed of twenty-four lines. Annotations to the text have been made in pencil. The song is the beginning of the story in which Diarmaid, after having eloped with Grainne, Fionn's wife, goes boar...

Fragment of the story 'A Chromag Gabh mu n Cuairt' probably collected from Ruaridh Camshron [Roderick Cameron], Carbost [Càrabost, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye]. The text tells how the story of the man arriving at the giant's house and being hidden by the giant's wife. The full text of the story can be found at CW109/3 folio 6r.

Fragment of a story about a wrongfully imprisoned man. The man is asked by the king to fight a bully, who has come into the kingdom challenging everyone, for which the man asks for particular food including a bannock, butter and eggs. On meeting the bully, he caught him by the hand 'and pulled it off from the shoulder' having previously beaten him at other feats of strength. A page has been removed from the note book (probably contemporaneously) before this entry.

Scope and Contents Fragment of a story about Calum Cille [St Columba] probably collected from Roderick MacNeil, aged 88, crofter, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay which describes him as 'na dhuin[e] cruai[dh]' [a hard man]. A crowd of people were watering Calum Cille's crops when one man asked the housekeeper, who was baking, for some food. She refused him and then he asked for a piece of dough 'as ne Dia' [in the name of God?] and she said she could not refuse him. The man put the dough on the fire and it turned into...

Fragment of a story, probably collected in Uibhist a Deas/South Uist which reads 'Cuchullain was keep[in]g the Ath where the athach mor whose foot marks [attr[acte]d] his notice.' The accompanying song fragment is simpy a line which reads 'Lorg and ogain seach an t ath'.

Fragment of a story about hidden treasure on Am Muile/Isle of Mull. The story relates to the betrayal by MacLeod of Dunvegan and Maclean of Lochbuie of Hector Odhar Maclean at the Battle of Bloody Bay. When Maclean realised he was betrayed he 'car[r]ied the treasure up & threw it in the well where it is buried. closed up now simply a hollow.'

Scope and Contents Fragment of a story about MacLaine of Lochbuie capsizing. The story mentions that MacLean of Coll, MacLaine of Lochbuie and Saxon were out shooting on a Sunday and that [they all got into a boat] which capsized. On being rescued his man said to him, 'Fad bha [th]u os mo chionn san t saoghal cha bhi [th]u os mo chionn san a shaoghal thall.' An aside notes that 'On Mull side of Ulva Sound [there are] columns like Staffa.' [Am Muile/Isle of Mull, Caolas Ulbha/Sound of Ulva] The handwriting here...
